WHY DID TOM BERGERON LEAVE DACING WITH THE STARS?
In July, longtime DWTS host Tom Bergeron made waves when he announced that he would be leaving the show after 15 years. ABC and producer BBC Studios said that Bergeron’s exit comes “as we embark on a new creative direction,” but at the time, neither party offered additional information about the decision.
Shortly after news of Bergeron and co-host Erin Andrews’ departure broke, ABC announced that model and actress Tyra Banks would be stepping up to the mic as host for Season 29. “I’ve been a fan of DWTS since its beginning… The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances… it’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk,” said Banks in a statement. “Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.”
