Harris brings a unique speed power combo that could overtake Michel in the running back rotation since the Georgia product has been slowing down by injuries since the beginning of 2019. That’s probably still up in the air after Michel’s career day against the Raiders, but a fresh Harris was supposed to be a focal point of the rushing attack before he was put in hospital.

Imagine how great the Patriots backfield will be when it is at its full strength.

Through three games in 2020, the New England Patriots have the NFL’s best offense. They average 178 yards per game and 5.1 yards per possession, and there’s no clear No. One back in the Cam Newton led offense. , Und guess what? It only goes to get better.

Bill Belichick’s team is not even at full strength! Damien Harris has yet to play a game after being put on injured reserve with a finger injury and James White has missed the last two games due to the tragic death of his father. When those guys return, this backfield will be the most dynamic in the league.

The coaching staff was tremendously impressed with Harris in training camp, so his possible return in Week 4 has everyone on their toes.

I’m really excited – excited about having Damien back if we can get him back,” said running backs coach Ivan Fears. It is almost like we are all anxious to see what he will do when it is truly go time. Everything he showed has been outstanding. He had a great training camp so it was kind of unfortunate to receive a small finger injury before the opening game.

It will at the very least be another set of mighty legs running back another impressive edition of the Patriots offensive line.

Ivan Fears said that the Patriots are still waiting for the final word on whether they have all five RBs on the field this week. Damien Harris can retire from IR and James White has yet to rejoin the team.

Fears added : “I think I should let him know how he is doing. All I can say is that we love him and that we are attempting to be there for him. We are really a slave. We look forward to him coming back and we’ll take it from there. Whatever he needs, what we are trying to do. Anything he needs shall be”.

But even if they don’t have White, look at this previously distributed rushing yardage:

  • Sony Michel : 173 yards.
  • Cam Newton : 149 yards.
  • Rex Burkhead 83 yards
  • JJ Taylor: 70 yard
  • James White : 22 yard (1 game)

Get Harris in there and give White some more touches and you have one of the most versatile rush attacks. Against the defensive gridlock each week, opponents will have headaches trying to stop.
