It is well said that times of great disruption are events of great transformations. The history of the Pro Arte Musical is one of persistent and resilient strength. The pandemic and the proper rules for production and execution of public shows forced us to find new ways to fulfill our mission. We came to your homes with these wonderful virtual concerts.

The Puerto Rican soprano Laura Mara Pabón Figueroa will also perform in concert at 7:00pm on Friday, October 3. Laura Mara began her musical studies at the Preparatory School of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico at the age of four and is a graduate of the San Juan Ernesto Ramos Antonini Free School of Music where she studied guitar with Maestro Iván Rijos. She started her singing career with reknown Soprano Hilda Ramos at the age of seventeen and eventually trained with Teachers Diana Alvarado and Laura Rey, among others. As a choral scholar she has been a member of the Lyrical Choir of Puerto Rico and the San Juan Philharmonic Choir.

In 2017 she made her solo debut at the Vozarteum Festival with the role of Armida in Georg Friedrich Händel’s opera Rinaldo. She was part of the International Vocal Arts Institute in New York in 2015 and participated in the production of Jules Massenet’s opera Cendrillon at the Institut Canadien d Art Vocal in Montreal. In 2019 she finished her bachelor of voice performance at the CMPR under the tutelage of mezzo-soprano Ilca López, and received the medal of the singing department as most outstanding student. She was also a recipient of the Dr. José Rabelo Scholarship and the Roberto I. Ferdman Prize by Pro Arte Musical Later, she played the role of “Lisette” in Giacomo Puccini’s lyrical comedy La Rondine at the Chicago Summer Opera. She is currently studying master’s degrees at the prestigious Mannes College The New School for Music in New York with American Soprano Beth Roberts.

Pro Arte Musical has gotten back into the New Virtuosi Series under the name of Fili G. Gill, since 2005, in honor of who was in life the godmother and leader of this project. As a member of its board of directors, Mrs. Gill organized the first concert of this series in 1991 with the aim of presenting the virtuosity of young artists whose achievements and merits have won the favour of the public and deserve the most special distinctions. Pro Arte awards the Roberto I. Ferdman Award to exceptional students who have completed an academic music degree and are about to embark on postgraduate studies in composition, conductorship, and vocal or instrumental performance. For this reason we are proud to present the distinguished young Laura Mara Pabón in this recital.

Son’s concert program includes works by Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Franz Lehár, Emile Paladilhe, Francis Poulenc, Giacomo Puccini, Xavier Montsalvatge and the renowned composer Héctor Campos Parsi. Laura Mara will be accompanied by her mother Master Diana Figueroa on piano. This presentation was shot in the René Marqués Theatre Room of the Luis A. Ferré Fine Arts Center in collaboration with the production team and the technical and audiovisual crew of Producciones La Vid.

Ticketera Live portal is the official online venue to enjoy the presentation.
