If we have learnt anything in the last four years, it’s that Donald Trump is a deplorable human being and that calling him a “human being” may be too nice. Children separation, attacks on widows, “suckers” and “losers,” indifference over 200,000 dead Americans — you know his greatest hits However, on Tuesday night, during the first presidential debate, Trump apparently thought the best way to reach undecided voters would be to convince them that he is truly one of the worst people on earth and that there is no contest between him and Joe Biden vis-à-vis who is several rungs below the dry mud on the pike scale.

Biden broke a news release that went against the report that he called dead soldiers “suckers” and “losers” and told the president: “My son was in Iraq a year, he received the bronze star, he got the conspicuous service medal, he was not a loser, he was a patriot and the people left behind were heroes.”

Trump snarled : “You are talking about Hunter.

Speaking to his son, Beau Biden, said: “I’m talking about my son, Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer four years ago.

Trump said without a beat before jumping to an attack on the flinging son of Biden, who is living, and whom he tried desperately to convince Ukraine to smear last year. He was thrown out of the military for cocaine use – and he didn’t have a job until you became Vice President.

While no one would have thought less of Biden if he had crossed the stage to sock Trump in the mouth, he instead offered a response that connected the nation in a way that the current president never could, especially since America is still in the middle of an opioid crisis. “My son had a drug problem like a lot of people, like a lot of people at home,” said Biden. He overtakes it, he fixed it, he works on it and I’m proud of my son.

If a viewer took away from the debate a thing, it’s probably that Donald Trump is a horrible person who has zero morality in trashing a son as he speaks about another child that they tragically lost to brain cancer.
