‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe has called out Tom Brady for supporting Donald Trump as he revealed who he would be supporting this 2019 Superbowl. He shared that he would be rooting for the Los Angeles Rams instead of the New England Patriots for whom Brady plays quarterback.
The 29-year-old Radcliffe took some swipes at Brady while he was promoting his latest show ‘Miracle Workers’ and said, “Take that MAGA hat out of your locker.” When it came to who he supports in this year’s Superbowl, Radcliffe immediately responded from the Sundance Festival saying, “Rams. Cause like the whole world is rooting against the Patriots… sorry.”
He was also asked whether he thought Brady should retire to which he said no but added, “He should stop winning things.”
“Take that MAGA hat out of your locker. I feel like that was the moment when as a country we were all like ‘Come on, dude! You’re awesome…Don’t put that in here’,” he shared. Daniel was referring to a video which had been taken in 2015 showing Brady speaking from his locker room while a red color ‘Make American Great Again’ was seen perched on a shelf in the background of the photograph.
Tom Brady and Donald Trump reportedly go way back and are even known to be golf buddies. However, things started to get very shaky when Trump started to fiercely attack athletes who knelt down or refused to sing the national anthem before football games.
In POTUS’s mind, this was considered to be an act of defiance as well as a lack of patriotism and the backlash prompted Brady to critique Trump and say, “I certainly disagree with what he said. I thought it was just divisive. Like I said, I just want to support my teammates.”
Ever since, Brady has been seen locking arms with his black teammates when they refuse to place their hands on their hearts during the national anthem. Over the last couple of years, Brady has remained on the down low in regard to his friendship with the President.
In 2016, Tom Brady’s supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen took to Instagram to share that she and her husband would not be supporting Donald Trump in the election. The following year, Brady decided not to visit the White House along with his team. Even though Brady may be over the friendship, POTUS took to Twitter to congratulate Brady on making it to the Superbowl for the ninth time.
Trump’s tweet read, “Congratulations to Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the entire New England Patriots team on a great game and season. Will be a fantastic Super Bowl!” Tom Brady has been labeled as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and already has around five Super Bowl wins.
