In the weeks leading up to their separation, the couple and their children were isolated in the Cayman Islands in a tiny place which Hammer said highlighted the problems in their marriage.

For the first time, Armie Hammer publicly spoke about his separation from actress wife Elizabeth Chambers.

In a new interview with British GQ, the actor said that it will always be painful to remember who you are or whether you were the one who initiated or not the divorce.

The 34-year-old told the publication that he is not sure that there will ever be anyone in the world who would ever say what I’m going through is an easy thing to go through. It is not about whether it was your idea or not or whether you think it is the right idea or not. Regardless of whether this separation is true, it is a seriously seismic event in a person’s life.

There is a lot of shifting and a lot of growing pains and a lot of changes. Change is a universal constant. I mean, change is not always bad, but that doesn’t mean it’s painless. ”

On July 11 the couple announced their separation after 10 years of marriage and wrote in a joint statement that it was “three years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It’s been an incredible journey but together we decided to turn the page and move forward from our marriage.

Two days later, 32-year-old Chambers filed for divorce from the Hotel Mumbai star, who is father of her daughter Harper, five, and son Ford, three.

The more important issue is whether Elizabeth and I are two adults who make this decision and the priority is how do we do it in a way that least affects our children? Or, at least, how do we help them move through this in a way that mitigates as much dismay or fear or damage on their part, you know? Hammer said :

In the weeks leading up to their separation, the couple and their children were isolated in the Cayman Islands “in a tiny place”, which Hammer said served to highlight the problems in their marriage.

I was on an island where the lockdown was so severe that mail could never even come in. I felt so intensely trapped in that snare and wanted to devour his own foot off,” said Hammer. “I was just like: I can’t do that. Get me out of here.
